Jake in NC

This handsome fellow is Jake, an 8-year-old, black and tan male Dachshund. He came to us from East Tennessee when his previous family could no longer care for him. Jake can be a bit shy when you first meet him, but he quickly warms up once he feels comfortable and knows you. He's a very laid-back boy who enjoys relaxing both indoors and outdoors. Jake gets along with the female dog in his foster home, though he also appreciates his quiet time.

Ideal Home

Jake would do best in a home with a fenced yard, as he's not a fan of walks. He would also thrive with someone who can be home with him more often than not. Homes with apartments or high-rises are not a good fit for him. Due to their delicate nature, Dachshunds are not recommended for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children in the future.

Ongoing Health

Jake is up to date on all his vaccinations and is neutered. His microchip is registered under Nano 900263002728894. He receives monthly heartworm prevention on the 4th of each month.

Training & Support

Jake is house-trained, provided he is kept on a regular schedule. He is also crate-trained and leash-trained, although he does not enjoy walks.
