Meet Marty — Your Ride-or-Die Best Friend
Marty isn’t just a dog—he’s the kind of dog who becomes your dog. The one who follows you from room to room, rests his head on you just because he can, and looks at you like you’re his entire world. At around 2 years old, this handsome American Bulldog is the perfect mix of playful and settled. He’s past the puppy chaos, but still full of life, love, and loyalty. Marty is what we call a “velcro dog”—he thrives on connection and wants nothing more than to be by your side through it all. He’s house-trained, crate-trained, a great car ride companion, smart and eager to learn (knows sit, down, come & more), and quiet in the home and settles beautifully after exercise. Marty enjoys his daily walks, chasing a ball, and then curling up with his person to relax. He forms strong bonds quickly and gives his whole heart—which is exactly why he needs someone who will do the same for him.
Ideal Home
Marty needs a calm, structured home with an experienced, confident owner who is home most of the time or able to include him in daily life. A cat-free home is recommended.
Ongoing Health
Marty can experience some separation-related anxiety, mainly around departures. He may become unsettled at doorways when he thinks you’re leaving, but this is rooted in anxiety, not aggression, and has already shown improvement with structure and consistency. He is comfortable in a crate and settles well when routines are calm. Due to a past history of ingesting soft items, he is crated without bedding when unattended, which has helped him succeed. When resting, he may give a low warning growl if startled—this is simply communication, not escalation, and is easily managed with respectful handling and clear boundaries.
Training & Support
Marty would benefit from continued guidance with leash manners and dog interactions. On leash, he can fixate on other dogs and pull, but he is actively improving and responds well to guidance and training. He has done well with other dogs in a home, but can be a bit enthusiastic and may do best as the only dog or with the right match.
