Callie is a sweet, approximately 5-year-old, 50-pound girl who is ready for her forever home. Despite a difficult past, she is incredibly loving and affectionate. Callie came to us from a situation with many intact dogs, none of whom had received veterinary care. She had scars, fresh wounds, and showed signs of having been repeatedly bred and fending for herself. Thankfully, she's now spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and is recovering from surgery to remove growths, including a cancerous one, and painful, rotten teeth. Her final suture removal is scheduled for June 10. Callie was initially unfamiliar with living in a home, but she adapted quickly after a few accidents while learning. She absolutely adores people and craves affection, happiest when she's part of the family. Peanut butter and mealtime are her favorite things!
Ideal Home
Callie needs a patient and kind family willing to help her build confidence and trust. While she has made great progress with dog socialization, she may still need continued consistency, structure, and careful introductions around other dogs. Her feelings about sharing her people with cats are still being explored, but she has been calm and indifferent around adult cats, showing slight jealousy towards kittens.
Ongoing Health
Callie is recovering from surgery to remove growths, including a cancerous one, and has had rotten teeth removed. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. Her final suture removal is scheduled for June 10.
Training & Support
Callie was reactive towards other dogs upon arrival but has made tremendous progress with training and patience. She is still learning things many dogs learn as puppies and needs a home that understands this and can provide ongoing consistency and structure.
