Dahlia Daisy Flower is an 11-month-old "itty bitty labbie pittie" who is as delicate and beautiful as her namesake flower, and oh so sweet! She currently weighs 35 pounds and is expected to reach a maximum of 40-45 pounds. Dahlia wakes up ready for adventure, enjoying a potty break and some morning zoomies before her brisk walk. She has near-perfect leash skills, unless a squirrel catches her eye! Dahlia loves exploring trails and parks, making new friends along the way, and she is especially happy if there's a creek or river to splash in, making her an ideal camping companion.
During the workday, Dahlia is a content companion, snoozing by her foster mom's side and enjoying zoomie breaks with the four other resident dogs in the home. She lives harmoniously with two small female dogs, one medium male dog, and one large female dog. When playing with smaller dogs, they should be able to communicate their boundaries clearly. Dahlia's favorite pastimes include chasing pine cones she tosses in the air and proudly carrying around large sticks.
Ideal Home
Dahlia would thrive in a home that can provide her with plenty of exercise, including at least two walks per day. She would be happiest with another playful dog in the home, or if her people work full-time outside the home, she would benefit from regular doggy daycare. While she can adapt to a dog-friendly apartment or condo, her vocal nature when left alone (she cries in her crate initially) should be a consideration for homes with shared walls. She has not been tested with cats or children, but she is expected to do well with respectful children aged 8 and up.
Ongoing Health
Dahlia is up-to-date on all vetting, including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, flea prevention, and a 12-month heartworm preventative injectable. She has also been heartworm tested and will be treated if necessary.
Training & Support
Dahlia is crate and house trained. She will cry in her crate when initially left alone but does settle eventually. This will need to be re-established in her new home. She currently settles beautifully in her crate at night without issue after a routine is established. While she would love to share a bed with her humans eventually, patience with crate training is key.
