Florence, affectionately nicknamed Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, is a 3-year-old, spayed female Carolina Dog mix weighing 46 pounds. She's a playful and energetic girl who loves to wrestle and be chased. Flora is a total love bug who enjoys snuggling and learning new tricks. She was found as a stray and is now looking for a forever home where she can thrive.
Ideal Home
Flora would do best in a moderately active home with someone who is often around and enjoys outdoor activities like walks, jogs, and playing fetch. She would thrive with no other pets or with a well-balanced dog of similar age, size, and energy level. Flora can be nervous around new children and exhibits stranger danger, so an adult-only household might be best at this time. She is also terrified of storms and will seek shelter when they occur.
Ongoing Health
Flora is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. No specific health conditions are noted.
Training & Support
Flora can exhibit leash reactivity, including raised hair, whimpering, and barking, though her foster parents have worked with her on this. She requires slow and guided introductions to other dogs. While she has shown anxiety in a crate at home, she is comfortable when boarded. Consistent positive reinforcement training will help her with leash skills and feeling safe around new stimuli. She needs reminders to take treats gently.
