Plum

Plum is a 2-year-old, 35lb Aussie x Heeler mix who is bursting with intelligence, drive, and enthusiasm for life. Months in a kennel have taken a toll on her, and she needs someone who understands the heart and mind of a cattle dog. Plum loves other dogs, though her play style is very rough-and-tumble and can sometimes be a bit much for more sensitive canine companions. She thrives on activity, engagement, and having an outlet for both her physical energy and her busy Heeler brain. Volunteers believe she is highly trainable and eager to learn, but she needs someone willing to invest the time to teach her what life outside the shelter looks like. She has been waiting since April 20th and time is running out.

Ideal Home

Plum is looking for an adult-only home or a home with older, dog-savvy teens due to her herding instincts and tendency to nip. She would not be a good fit for cats or other small animals.

Ongoing Health

Plum is spayed and heartworm negative.

Training & Support

Plum is smart and highly trainable, but she needs guidance, consistency, and an outlet for her energy and intelligence. Like many working breeds, she can struggle with stimulation in a stressful shelter environment.
