About Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, neutered male, hound/retriever mix weighing 56 pounds. This sweet boy, also known as Buddy, was rescued from the streets and saved from the county shelter in San Antonio. He's a playful and affectionate pup who loves to zoom around and snuggle. Comet has a balanced playstyle and has shown no resource guarding. He's also done well with indoor cats and children, though we recommend a home with kids aged 10 or older who understand animal behavior cues, as he has a bit of a herding instinct. While he's made great progress, Comet can be a little wary of men initially, but with patience and consistency, he bonds beautifully. His favorite thing is to please, making him a joy to train!

Ideal Home

Comet would thrive in a home with another dog to be his sibling and playmate. He enjoys being with his people and is looking for a family that can offer patience and consistency as he continues to build confidence, especially around men.

Ongoing Health

Comet is healthy and up-to-date on all vaccinations.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He sleeps soundly in his kennel at night without fuss and doesn't pull on the leash. He alerts when he needs to go outside and has had no accidents in the house. While he doesn't show signs of separation anxiety, he is crated when unsupervised due to his tendency to taste-test items. He responds well to positive reinforcement and does not require harsh corrections.
