Bruce is a handsome 4.5 to 5-year-old German Shepherd who has been with our sanctuary for over 4 years. He's a smart, sweet, nurturing, and curious boy who is protective by nature, but he thrives when he has a confident leader to follow. Bruce loves to learn, enjoys group play, and is up for any adventure, from car rides and hiking to swimming and canoeing. He's happiest when he's with his people and is eager to be part of a stable, balanced pack to learn from. Bruce has made amazing progress and is ready to continue his journey in a loving home.
Ideal Home
Bruce needs a committed, confident, and active individual or family experienced with the German Shepherd breed. He requires an indoor home with climate control and a comfortable space to rest, ideally near his humans. Patience and an understanding of his breed's needs and potential stranger danger reactivity are crucial. A fenced-in yard is a must for his safety and enjoyment.
Ongoing Health
Bruce has been tested and is negative for heartworm and Lyme disease. He is up-to-date on core vaccinations and receives regular flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. All his testing and vaccinations are current, completed within the last 6-12 months.
Training & Support
Bruce is house and crate-trained, and his off-leash recall is excellent, though ongoing training is always beneficial. He walks well on a leash, but his initial excitement can be managed and improved with consistent training. Bruce thrives with positive reinforcement and disciplined correction within a structured environment. He needs continued exposure and guidance to build confidence and trust, especially around new people. He needs a home that will not set him up to fail and will provide consistent leadership and a structured routine.
