About Hershey
Hershey is a sweet and friendly Chihuahua mix, weighing around 8.6 lbs. Born on January 10, 2026, this cheerful boy has a personality that can brighten any room. He's great with other dogs, children, men, and women, making him a versatile companion. Hershey enjoys exploring and spending time with his people and canine friends, though he's not particularly interested in toys. He's a quiet dog who doesn't bark much, and he sleeps in an open crate at night, coming and going as he pleases. Like many young dogs, Hershey is curious and enjoys chewing, so he'll need appropriate chew toys and supervision as he continues to learn. He was rescued from a difficult situation where he and his littermates weren't always provided with adequate food. Now, Hershey is safe, healthy, and eagerly awaiting a loving family to cherish him forever.
Ideal Home
Hershey would thrive in an active family that enjoys outdoor activities and has a securely fenced backyard. He needs a home with owners who have a genuine intention to rescue and understand the needs of rescued animals, including their need for protection and education. Experience with dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a professional trainer, is highly recommended. High tolerance and patience for rescued puppies are essential.
Ongoing Health
Hershey is up-to-date on all his vaccinations, including DHPPI and Rabies, and has been given Bordetella. He is dewormed, microchipped, and has tested negative for heartworm. He is on monthly preventive medication for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. He has also been spayed/neutered and comes with a health certificate and vaccination booklet.
Training & Support
Hershey is not house-trained and will need consistent effort and patience to learn. He also has a tendency to chew due to his curiosity, so he requires appropriate chew toys and supervision. Understanding that he may have fears and anxieties due to his past experiences is crucial, and he will need time, patience, and understanding to build trust and adapt to his new environment.
