About Duke

Duke is a goofy, lovable, and affectionate boy who absolutely adores being by your side and part of whatever is happening. He'll even happily cuddle on your lap if you'll let him! Duke may take a little time to warm up to new people, but once you're in his "Duke club," you're a friend for life! Due to his initial stranger anxiety, we believe he would thrive in a quiet home environment with a predictable routine and fewer comings and goings. The staff here at OAHS are dedicated to teaching adopters how to facilitate slow introductions with new people, ensuring everyone feels comfortable.

Duke is a 3-year-old, 70-pound bundle of joy who is highly treat-motivated and eager to learn. He's a smart boy who already knows "sit," "down," and "shake," and he responds well to gentle corrections. We suggest Duke for children aged teen years and up due to his size and energetic nature.

Ideal Home

Duke would do best in a structured, quiet home. He is not recommended for a home with cats, as he has shown a tendency to focus on and chase them in the past.

Ongoing Health

Duke is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

Training & Support

Duke is very treat-motivated and willing to learn. He already knows basic commands like sit, down, and shake, and he responds well to corrections. Duke was likely not socialized with other dogs during his puppyhood, making him unsure and nervous around them. He should be the only dog in the home. Any dog introductions outside the home should be done slowly with professional assistance.
