Hershey

Hershey is a sweet Chihuahua boy who weighs about 8.6 lbs and was born on January 10, 2026. He's a friendly and happy pup who enjoys running around and exploring. Hershey gets along well with dogs, children, men, and women, making him a versatile companion. While he's not particularly interested in toys, he loves spending time with people and his canine friends. Hershey is not a big barker and has a cheerful personality that can brighten any room. He sleeps in an open crate at night and comes and goes as he pleases. Like many young dogs, he is curious and enjoys chewing, so he will need appropriate chew toys and supervision as he continues to learn. Hershey's past was challenging, as he was born into a situation where his needs were not consistently met. Thankfully, he is now safe, healthy, and ready for a loving family that will cherish him forever.

Ideal Home

Hershey would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog, an open mind about the needs and behaviors of rescued street animals, and experience with dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer. A high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies are essential.

Ongoing Health

Hershey has received a comprehensive health protocol including being spayed/neutered, vaccinated (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), dewormed, microchipped, and tested for 4DX and heartworm (negative). He is currently on monthly preventive protection with Nexgard Spectra. He comes with a vaccine booklet and health certificate.

Training & Support

Hershey is not house-trained and will require patience and understanding as he adjusts to his new environment. He has a natural inclination to chew and will need appropriate chew toys and supervision. Given his background, he may have fears and anxieties that require time to overcome, building trust and a strong bond with his new owner.

• Please send photos and videos of your home to ensure a safe environment for your future furry friend.
• If it's a match, we'll schedule a call or video chat to introduce you to the pet and conduct a virtual home tour.
• We will speak with 1-2 of your references.
• If approved, you'll sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee, which helps cover veterinary care, vaccinations, microchipping, and food.

Transporation

Hershey is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip. A one-time transport fee of $400 USD covers door-to-door delivery. We organize 3-4 trips per year with a minimum of 15-20 adoptions per trip. Our contracted transport company, based in Montana, will collect the pets and provide all necessary legal documents, including a transport contract and a USDA health certificate. For US adoptions, pets will be escorted across the border into Texas. For Canadian adoptions, pets will be delivered to the nearest US-Canada border. You will receive real-time updates via a private Facebook Messenger group, including photos, videos, feeding and cleaning schedules, and estimated times of arrival. The transport team will conduct a final home review upon delivery.
