Meet Astro, a 9-month-old Australian Shepherd Mix who is a true wiggle butt! This sweet boy is incredibly loyal and loves to shower his favorite people with kisses and belly rubs. Astro's tail wags so hard his whole body shakes, and he's often seen with a big smile on his face, making him an all-around happy companion. He enjoys playing with toys and other dogs, and he's always eager to shadow his humans.
Ideal Home
Astro would thrive in a quieter neighborhood where he can adjust to outdoor noises at his own pace. He needs a patient family who understands his fear of sudden loud noises and his past experiences that may have made him feel abandoned. He needs another confident, playful dog in the home to help him feel secure and burn energy. Due to his herding breed nature, his family must be prepared for him to herd people and small children. A physically fenced yard (5'-6' height required) is a must, and he is not suited for apartment living. He needs a home with children aged 8 and older.
Ongoing Health
Astro is up-to-date on all vaccinations and preventatives, and he has been tested and is heartworm negative. He is currently working through some noise phobias with his foster family.
Training & Support
Astro is mostly crate trained, though he may whine for a few minutes when first settling in. He is still working on his potty training, with occasional accidents occurring during loud noises that make him fearful of going outside. He is also still learning what items are appropriate to chew. Astro is a quick learner and already knows "sit" and "no." He can be jumpy, which is typical for his age. Walks are currently a challenge due to his fear of outdoor noises, but with consistent training and patience, he can overcome this.
