Fostered in Marysville, WA is Dahlia, an 11-month-old "itty bitty labbie pittie" who is as delicate and beautiful as her namesake flower. This sweet girl currently weighs about 35 pounds and is expected to reach a maximum of 40-45 pounds. Dahlia is a cheerful morning person, ready to embrace the day after a good night's sleep in her crate. She enjoys a potty break followed by energetic zoomies in the backyard, and her leash manners are nearly perfect, save for the occasional squirrel-induced excitement! Dahlia loves to explore, whether on neighborhood walks or more adventurous hikes and park visits, where she makes friends with everyone. She's particularly fond of water and would be an amazing camping companion.
Dahlia settles in nicely during the workday, snoozing at her foster mom's side, and enjoys playful zoomie breaks with the four other dogs in her foster home. She lives harmoniously with two small female dogs, one medium male, and one large female, and gets along beautifully with all of them. When playing with smaller dogs, it's important they can set their own boundaries. Dahlia's favorite pastimes include chasing pinecones and carrying around big sticks.
Ideal Home
Dahlia is crate and house-trained, but she will vocalize when initially left alone in her crate, which may be a consideration for homes with shared walls. However, she could thrive in a dog-friendly apartment or condo with sufficient exercise. She would be happiest with another playful dog in the home or with regular visits to doggy daycare if her people work outside the home. While she hasn't been tested with cats or children, she's likely to do well with respectful children aged 8 and up. A cat test can be arranged if needed.
Ongoing Health
Dahlia is up-to-date on all vetting, including vaccinations, deworming, and flea/heartworm prevention. She has been spayed and microchipped.
Training & Support
Dahlia is crate and house-trained. She will cry in her crate at first when left alone, but eventually settles. This will need to be re-established in her new home. She settles beautifully in her crate at night without a peep once a routine is established.
