Smooch Summit is exactly who he thinks he is, a dog who makes every ordinary day feel just... better! Equal parts adventure buddy, patio companion, professional lounger, sweet smoocher, and affectionate best friend wrapped in a spectacularly fluffy coat with one brilliant blue eye, one warm brown eye. ALLLL that and a deep conviction that every person deserves at least one of his signature smooches. If you've been dreaming of a dog who can happily join you for life's outings and then quietly relax by your side while looking downright majestic, Smooch is positively dreaming about you too. Estimated to be around 5 years old and looking very much like an Alaskan Malamute mix, Smooch weighs about 60 pounds. His thick coat and northern-breed spirit are ready to trade scorching summers for cool breezes and shady adventures by your side. Smooch is wonderfully balanced; he enjoys getting out to explore, but he isn't looking to spend every waking moment in motion. Give him about ten minutes of play, a chance to splash in some water, or a nice walk, and he's perfectly content finding a shady spot to stretch out and simply enjoy being with his people. He has a calm confidence about him that makes him incredibly easy company. Pair that with his excellent leash manners, and you have a dog who's ready to accompany you just about anywhere. He's also the kind of dog who makes everyday outings feel effortless. Cafe patio lunch? Count him in. Road trip? You get the door and he can take it from there, hopping in the car like he's been waiting for the invitation all day. No matter where you are headed, Smooch rides beautifully in the car and when lunch plans are in order, he will settle comfortably while you enjoy a meal, content to relax beside your table without pestering for food or demanding attention. Smooch enjoys the company of other dogs and has proven himself to be a friendly social companion. He especially enjoys playing with female dogs and appreciates friends who understand polite dog communication. Like many mature, well-socialized dogs, he'll let another dog know if they're being a little too enthusiastic or have those puppyish over-the-top antics, but he's not looking for conflict. He simply prefers respectful friendships where everyone can have a good time. Treats are one of the quickest ways to this fluffy fellow's heart, and his affectionate nickname couldn't be more fitting. Smooch believes kisses are meant to be shared generously, and he'll happily sprinkle them throughout your day whenever the opportunity presents itself. Beneath all that magnificent fluff is a deeply loving dog who simply enjoys being close to his people.

We think Smooch would be especially happy in a home where cooler temperatures allow him to comfortably enjoy the outdoors throughout the year. Whether that's hiking forest trails, relaxing beside a lake, joining you for coffee on a shaded patio, or simply napping on the porch while a cool breeze rolls through the trees, this handsome boy is perfectly designed for that kind of life.

• The adoption fee is $1200 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectable, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!).
• Adopters receive extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on staff, discounts on Embark DNA test kits, 30-day pet insurance with Trupanion, a free private online dog training session with GoodPup, discounts on in-person dog training through Rover Training, discounts on Fetch dog food, coupons for Petco, discounts on Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions, discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer, and access to an exclusive FB Adopters page.

Transporation

We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our rescue run USDA certified transport system. Transport includes drop off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI and Canada (pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters). You will have the opportunity to track their journey in real time, see photo updates, learn fun facts, connect with fellow adopters and fosters through our private Facebook event page. A $87 surcharge applies to cover transportation costs. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
