About Comet

Comet, a 3-year-old, 56-pound, neutered male hound/retriever mix, is a sweet and affectionate boy looking for his forever family. He was rescued from the streets and then from the county shelter in San Antonio. Comet, also known as Buddy, is a resilient and adaptable dog who loves to please and is easy to train. He enjoys cuddles and is happiest when he's with his people.

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home where he has a sibling to snuggle and play with. He has been around indoor cats and kids and does well with both. We typically recommend a home with kids aged 10 years or older, or those who can understand and respect animal behavior cues. While he has a bit of a herding instinct, he is not obnoxious.

Ongoing Health

Comet is a healthy boy with no ongoing health concerns mentioned.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He sleeps in his kennel at night without whining and does not pull on the leash. He has not had any accidents in the house and will alert you when he needs to go potty. Comet doesn't appear to have separation anxiety but is crated when unsupervised because he enjoys tasting things. He is a bit wary of men, but with patience and consistency from his new family, he will come around. Comet is easy to train and does not require harsh corrections.
