Meet Rey!
This thoughtful, almost five-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix is looking for a home where she can continue to feel secure and loved. Rey's favorite things include bacon-scented fetch balls, cozy naps, and training games that come with tasty rewards. With her striking black and fawn coat and expressive eyes, Rey is both clever and loyal. She's already house-trained, crate-trained, and knows an impressive list of commands, even balancing a treat on her nose! Walks and treat-dispensing puzzle toys are some of her favorite activities, and she thrives on a calm, predictable routine.
Ideal Home
Rey is best suited for a quiet, structured, adult-only home with no other pets. She needs a patient and experienced caregiver who can help her navigate new encounters with confidence.
Ongoing Health
Rey is currently taking daily fluoxetine to support her anxiety.
Training & Support
Rey's anxiety can manifest around unfamiliar people and dogs who approach her with interest. While she can settle when left alone, she needs help managing greetings and personal space boundaries. Her current caregivers use leash management, positive reinforcement, and distance-based games to help her feel secure. Rey has a bite history, reacting defensively when startled or overstimulated, such as when disturbed while sleeping or when someone tried to take her food. These incidents were not unprovoked. She is incredibly responsive to training when motivated by food and trust. A full month of behavioral guidance from a consultant will be provided to help her settle into her new home.
