Vinny

Vinny is a handsome, professionally trained boy looking for his forever home! He came to us from a high-kill shelter and, after a successful adoption, was returned to us due to resource guarding behaviors that hadn't been present before. To help Vinny overcome this, our volunteer trainers from Companion Canine took him for a two-week intensive training program. Vinny excelled and proved to be a very smart dog who loves his training sessions! He has retained all his training since his return and is eager to continue learning. Vinny is incredibly sweet and loves to give hugs!

Ideal Home

Vinny would thrive in a home that is committed to continuing his training. While he has a history of resource guarding, this was a new behavior and has been addressed with professional training. He has done well with other dogs and staff and appears to have done well with children in previous shelter assessments, however, due to his resource guarding, we are recommending no children under the age of 8. We are unsure about his interactions with children 8 and up.

Ongoing Health

Vinny is neutered and vaccinated. He has special needs due to his past resource guarding behavior.

Training & Support

Vinny is a super smart boy who would excel in advanced obedience or scent work training. He has retained all of his training and continues to do well with his training sessions. An adopter willing to keep up with his training will set him up for success.
