About Lainey

Lainey is a happy, loving girl born in March 2025, with so many wonderful qualities to offer her future foster or forever home! She is fully house-trained and uses the doggie door independently, making her very reliable with her potty habits. Lainey loves going for walks and patiently waits for her harness, and she even enjoys short runs, though she can be a little startled by bikes with bright lights at night. She hops into the car readily, always eager for an adventure, making her the perfect partner for hikes, walks, road trips, and outdoor fun. Lainey is a social butterfly who adores people and other dogs! She quickly bonded with her foster canine siblings and shares toys without any issues. She's also a sweetheart with children, having been wonderful with her foster family's 11-year-old son. Lainey would truly thrive with older children and playful dogs in an active household; she's been loving the busier environment of her foster home after coming from a quieter background.

Ideal Home

Lainey would thrive in an active household with older children and playful dogs. A fenced-in, secure yard is required for her to safely run and play. Another dog in the home is required for her happiness and well-being, ideally a playful pup who can match her energy. An experienced dog owner who understands canine body language is essential, as Lainey can be fearful and cautious with new dogs and situations initially, sometimes snarls as she establishes boundaries. This is a fear response, not aggression, and she warms up quickly once she feels safe. Lainey thrives when her people are around and should not be left alone for long periods.

Ongoing Health

Lainey has no known ongoing health conditions.

Training & Support

Lainey finds crates and gates very stressful and can have panic attacks when confined; she can also clear shorter gates. Once she has had time to decompress and settle in, she does not need to be contained and has not shown any chewing behavior in her foster home. She is learning "leave it" for her prey drive and is doing very well with this command.
