Meet Rainer!
Rainer is a 3-year-old Blue Heeler who has already been through more than most dogs ever should. He came into the shelter as a stray after being hit by a car. His injuries were severe enough that one of his legs had to be amputated. Since then, he has been neutered, completed heartworm treatment, and recovered from surgery. Through all of it, Rainer has remained an incredibly sweet dog. The shelter describes him as dog social and appropriate with other dogs. He does best with dogs that respect his space and understand his boundaries. Most importantly, he is struggling in the shelter environment. Many heelers do. These are dogs that were bred to think, move, and be connected to their people. Sitting in a kennel day after day is hard on them, especially after everything Rainer has already overcome. The amazing thing about tripod dogs is that they usually do not realize they are missing a leg. They adapt, they run, they play, and they continue living life like any other dog. Rainer deserves that chance. He deserves a couch. A family. A routine. A person to call his own. If you have room in your home for a resilient heeler who just needs someone willing to give him a chance, please reach out.
Ideal Home
Rainer would do best in a home where he can be a part of the family and have a routine. He is dog-social and enjoys the company of other dogs, but they should be respectful of his space and boundaries.
Ongoing Health
Rainer is a tripod Blue Heeler. He has been neutered and completed heartworm treatment. He has also recovered from his surgery.
Training & Support
Rainer is a smart and active breed that needs mental and physical stimulation. He is struggling in the shelter environment, so a home that can provide him with a connection to their people and opportunities to move and think will be ideal.
