Bernie

Meet Bernie, an 8-year-old explorer with a heart full of adventure! Bernie has been on quite a journey, arriving at Satchel's from Ohio. For the past four years, he's been a star in our Woof Pack program, working diligently with his leader, Gail, to overcome his anxiety and embrace new experiences. Through this program, we've learned so much about what makes Bernie tick and what kind of loving home will help him shine.

Bernie used to find car rides a bit daunting, but now they're one of his favorite pastimes! He loves riding shotgun, taking in all the sights and sounds of the world whizzing by. He's also become quite the social butterfly, enjoying meeting new people of all ages on his outings. He's a fan of pack walks and doggie playgroups, and we think he'd be happy with a canine sibling or as the sole canine companion in his new home. Bernie also thrives with mental stimulation, like scent work and agility training, which helps keep his anxiety at bay. When he's not out exploring, you can find him lounging in a kiddie pool, which he absolutely adores!

Ideal Home

Bernie would thrive with an active person or family who enjoys an outdoorsy lifestyle and can dedicate plenty of time to adventures away from the house. He needs a home where he won't be left alone, even in a fenced yard, as he's a bit of an escape artist. A crate will serve as his safe haven when he's indoors.

Ongoing Health

Bernie is currently on medication for anxiety. With an active lifestyle and a loving caregiver, his medication may be reduced or potentially eliminated.

Training & Support

Bernie has made great strides in managing his anxiety and is now comfortable with car rides and meeting new people. He enjoys mental stimulation through training activities.
