Gina is an 8-month-old, 56lb spayed female Belgian Malinois mix who was found abandoned in a cardboard box by the side of a busy road. Despite her rough start, Gina is now in a loving foster home and eager to find her forever family! She's a bright and playful pup who loves to engage in a game of tug-of-war with her smaller dog siblings. While she can be a bit hesitant around unfamiliar, larger dogs due to a past negative experience, she currently coexists happily with dogs under 15 lbs and over 75 lbs. Gina is very enthusiastic about toys, often collecting them in her bed, and has mastered the game of fetch. She's also a smart cookie who enjoys puzzle toys and needs a family who can guide her through the "puppy velociraptor" stage of chewing.
Ideal Home
Gina would thrive in an active home with someone who will play with her daily. She'd do well with older, dog-savvy children (10 and up) as she can be jumpy when excited and doesn't realize her size. She also prefers to eat her treats alone, and while she lives with dogs of various sizes in her foster home, she would benefit from slow introductions to new canine friends. A home without cats is recommended, as she tends to be overly enthusiastic when she sees them. Gina would likely enjoy having another dog in the home for companionship and to help burn off her puppy energy.
Ongoing Health
Gina is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Gina is crate trained and doing well with house training, showing no accidents when crated for up to 8 hours. She walks nicely on a leash and shows no signs of separation anxiety. Positive reinforcement and consistent guidance will be key to help her learn appropriate chewing habits. We believe she will be a large dog when fully grown, so adopters should be prepared to provide ongoing socialization, positive training, and plenty of outlets for exercise, play, and enrichment.
