Some treasures are hidden inside a crispy shell, and some arrive at animal control waiting for someone to see their worth. I happen to be both. I'm Cannoli, a 4.5-year-old, 48-pound gentleman with a sweet center, a calm nature, and so much love left to give. Life hasn't always been kind to me. You can see hints of my past if you look closely, but I never lost hope that a better future was waiting. Unlike a lot of dogs, I've already mastered the basics. I'm house trained, crate trained, and leash trained, which makes me a wonderful house guest. Whether it's a quiet evening at home, a walk through the neighborhood, or a road trip across the country, I'm happy simply being near my people.
The open road sounds pretty appealing to me. I'd make an excellent companion for a truck driver or anyone who enjoys having a loyal co-pilot along for the ride. I'm smart, laid-back, and content to watch the scenery pass by before settling in for a nap. A fenced yard isn't necessary for me; as long as I get exercise, attention, and a comfortable place to relax, I'm satisfied. And speaking of relaxing, I have developed a deep appreciation for soft couches. After everything I've been through, I fully embrace the comforts of home. Give me a cozy spot to stretch out, a loving family, and a few well-earned treats, and I'll be one happy guy. I do well with older children and can live with other dogs when introductions are done slowly and respectfully. I prefer mature canine companions who understand personal space. Tiny puppies with endless energy and no boundaries are not really my style. Despite a difficult past, my heart remains full of hope, trust, and love. The people who know me describe me as incredibly sweet, and I work hard every day to prove that my story is about resilience, not hardship. I know better days are ahead.
