Johnny (MD)

Johnny is a handsome 4-year-old, 21 lb standard doxie boy with a red long-hair coat and black overlay. He's a classic dachshund with a lot of personality and energy! Johnny is a digger, a barker, and loves to chew on branches. He's also known to hunt and eat small animals that wander into his yard. He's a purebred doxie in every sense of the word, and he needs an adopter who truly understands and appreciates the breed's unique traits.

Ideal Home

Johnny needs a very experienced, doxie-savvy adopter who has a single-family home with a large, 100% secure, and dig-proof fenced yard (no invisible fences, pools, or doggie doors). He would thrive with a young, energetic, playful doxie companion of his own size (no large dogs). He absolutely cannot live with cats or other small furry animals, and needs a home with no children. A home where his digging, barking, and chewing behaviors are accepted is essential. He is not suited for apartment, townhouse, or condo living due to his barking.

Training & Support

Johnny is crate-trained but needs a home where he won't be crated often due to his high energy. He is not house-trained and will have accidents. He is not leash-trained as he pulls significantly. Understanding and accepting his breed-specific behaviors is key to his success.
