Meet Blue Shield Malinois. Welcome to Blue Shield Malinois located at MARSOC’S K9 Training Facility in Saint Cloud, Florida. HI! I’m Kay Schreiner owner and trainer. Belgian Malinois are becoming increasingly popular from famous movies such as John Wick, police and military work, dog sports, and YouTube. Their popularity can sometimes put a Malinois in the wrong hands. There are many breeders to choose from and it is important to find the right one with the right dog that fits your needs. What sets Blue Shield Malinois apart from other breeders is not only our drive and dedication and passion for the breed, but the fact that we are also trainers and advocates for improving breed standards. We have our entire line on property. Within our line, we have different genetics that produce different types of dogs. This allows us to pick the right pairing to make sure you get the right dog. For example, we have a popular family pet line that also produces amazing service dogs. We have a sporting and working lines for active families and competitors in dog sports such as Schutzhund, French Ring, PSA, Street League, Iron Dog, and Mondioring. Blue Shield Malinois also has a police and military line that produces amazing estate dogs, law enforcement dogs, and personal protection dogs. After filling out an application and interview, we are better at determining the right breeding that specifically fits you prior to receiving your deposit. Remember we are interviewing each other to make sure you get the right puppy. Our dogs are all health tested and clear through EMBARK. We also have our dog’s hips and elbows certified before breeding through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. Taking these extra steps helps decrease the possibility of health issues within our puppies. All our puppies are dewormed and receive their first round of vaccinations with microchips and a certified health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. Our dogs also have a one -year health guarantee. Our dogs are either AKC registered or have a working BRN. We take care of all registration payments prior to pick-up for all new owners. Every puppy gets training material and a video link on how to raise and train their Blue Shield Belgian Malinois. Training packages are also available, and we customize them for every family and every puppy. The biggest difference between us and other breeders is that we are also trainers and animal behaviorist. Our puppies start receiving an education as soon as they are born, even if they do not know it. We do things a little differently. We separate the mom from her puppies to make sure the mom does not hurt or step on the puppies. We then separate the litter into two different whelping pens. Every few hours we provide the mom to one of the whelping pens to nurse while we bottle feed the other group. The next feeding, we bottle feed the group that was previously nursed by their mother. This helps the mother produce enough milk while also making sure the puppies are handled and bond strongly to humans too. We create behavioral charts for every puppy, so we can better pick the right puppy for you. We then start separating puppies from the litter to help prepare them for potty training and to help with separation anxiety. This might be more work for us, but our dogs and puppies benefit drastically, and it prepares them for their new homes. Our puppies start going outside at three and a half weeks. This helps with potty training along with making them into stronger more confident Blue Shield Malinois. From the very beginning, we expose our dogs to everything. They listen to gun shots and loud noises. They work for their food and learn new things daily. Our dogs are not only genetically sound but environmentally sound with a strong work ethic. We also offer training packages for every dog and puppy. These packages can be for private lessons or our stay and train program. We also have training packages where we raise and train your puppy for a year or longer in protection and or obedience. At the completion of this training, you as the new owner will take a course and spend a week or two training with your new service and or protection dog before taking them to their new forever home. We provide every new puppy owner with training material that includes literature and a video class on how to properly raise their Blue Shield Malinois for success which is included when you take your puppy home! Blue Shield Malinois also has a service dog, personal protection, and estate dog options. These dogs have extensive training and tend to be over a year of age. Owners must be qualified for these dogs and go through an extensive application process. These dogs are my life! I compete with them professionally in almost every dog sport or protection tournament. They are ambassadors for the breed; they have an amazing on and off switch allowing them to transition from task to task and then to a family cuddle bug. As a breeder and trainer, I stand behind my dogs and will frequently touch base with all owners that have one of my dogs.
