About Ivy

Hi there! My name is Ivy, and I'm a beautiful 2-year-old chocolate lab mix looking for a very special, loving family to call my own. I came from a hoarding situation, which means I didn't get a whole lot of "life experience" early on. Because of my past, the big wide world can still feel pretty overwhelming, and I can get a bit rattled by new things, people, and unfamiliar environments. But I am a resilient girl, and I'm currently enrolled in the Confidence College program where I am making slow and steady progress every single day! Before I started, I had absolutely no idea how to walk on a leash. Now? I absolutely adore being outside, running around, exploring new smells, and rolling in the green grass! One of the absolute easiest ways to my heart is through my stomach; I am incredibly food motivated, so a tasty treat is the perfect way to tell me I'm doing a good job. Once I get comfortable with you and know I'm safe, you really get to experience my fun and goofy personality that doesn't get shown to just everyone! I even really like toys and will happily chase after a thrown stuffy and run around with pure joy.

Ideal Home

I must go to a home that already has another social dog so they can show me the ropes. I must meet other dogs in the home before adoption to ensure that we can be buddies. A fenced yard is a must for me! I need a secure area to run around and release my energy. I need a home with kids 6 years old and older since I tend to be nervous around new people and loud noises.

Ongoing Health

I am enrolled in Confidence College. My adoption comes with a free 30-minute private training session.

Training & Support

Things like walking on a leash and going through doorways can be challenging for me. I will likely need extra time to adjust to home life. For my safety, I need to go home on an anti-slip collar called a martingale collar.
