GUMBO HAS QUESTIONS
Now listen here.
Gumbo has spent all morning trying to understand people, and as usual, that was his first mistake.
Because apparently somebody looked at this sweet little puppy and thought the appropriate thing to do was throw him from a moving vehicle.
Yes. A puppy.
Meet Jessie.
Jessie is about 4 months old. He should be worrying about important puppy things like stealing socks, chasing leaves, and making terrible life decisions involving mud puddles.
Instead, Jessie survived something no puppy should ever experience.
Thankfully, someone witnessed what happened and rushed him to safety.
The injuries left Jessie permanently deaf and with a slight head tilt. But here's the part Gumbo finds fascinating:
Jessie does not care.
Not one bit.
While humans are busy making excuses, Jessie is busy being a puppy.
He runs.
He plays.
He explores.
He loves everybody.
He wakes up every morning convinced life is still pretty wonderful.
The veterinarians have medically cleared him, and he is ready for a family.
Now Gumbo would like to address the elephant in the room.
Some of y'all see the words "deaf dog" and immediately start acting like you've been asked to adopt a nuclear submarine.
He's deaf.
That's it.
He doesn't sit around feeling sorry for himself.
He doesn't know he's "different."
He doesn't spend his days contemplating his limitations.
He just wants someone to love him.
A deaf dog can learn hand signals.
A deaf dog can play.
A deaf dog can cuddle.
A deaf dog can become your best friend.
What a deaf dog can't do is fill out his own adoption application.
That's where y'all come in.
So explain it to Gumbo.
How is a puppy who survived being thrown from a moving car...
who still loves people...
who still trusts humans...
who is medically cleared...
who is absolutely adorable...
...still waiting?
Because from where Gumbo is sitting, Jessie has already done the hard part.
Now he just needs somebody willing to do theirs.
Apply to adopt Jessie today. He survived the worst of humanity. Let's show him the best of it.
