Umi is a beautiful 7-8 month old German Shepherd mix, weighing about 45 lbs. She was abandoned as a tiny puppy and found wandering the streets, but despite her rough start, Umi has grown into a joyful, loving, and trusting girl. She loves walks, does very well on the leash, and enjoys exploring her surroundings. Umi is very social and affectionate, always ready to greet new people with tail wags and her tail wagging. She’s playful, energetic, and loves to run — it seems she never runs out of energy! Like any young pup, Umi is still learning and loves to chew, but with guidance, playtime, and plenty of exercise, she will thrive. She isn’t a fan of cats and is a bit scared of fireworks, but her sweet nature shines through in everything she does. Umi is ready to bring joy, energy, and endless affection to a family who will love her forever. Please understand that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period. Patience, understanding, and a loving environment are crucial for them to build trust and adapt to their new surroundings.
Ideal Home
Umi would thrive in a home with a tall fenced backyard. She needs an active family that enjoys outdoor activities and has a genuine intention to rescue a dog. Families should have an open conscience about the needs of street animals and a willingness to provide protection and education. Experience in dog behavior and training, or a commitment to hiring a trainer, is highly recommended. A high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies are also essential. Umi is not a fan of cats.
Ongoing Health
Umi has received a spay/neuter certificate, 2 DHPPI vaccines, a rabies vaccine, a Bordetella vaccine, and has been dewormed. She is microchipped, has a negative 4DX test and heartworm test, and receives monthly preventive protection with Nexgard Spectra for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. She also has a health certificate and vaccine booklet. It's important to note that rescued dogs may not be potty trained.
Training & Support
Umi is still learning and loves to chew, so she will benefit from guidance, playtime, and plenty of exercise. Families should be prepared for an adjustment period, as rescued dogs may have fears and anxieties due to past experiences. Patience, understanding, and establishing a routine with clear boundaries will help Umi feel secure and build trust.
