Meet Max!
Max is a charming 7-9 year old, 6.5 pound chihuahua with a heart full of love to give. He's a spry and "fox-like" senior who enjoys snuggling, finding the comfiest spot to perch, and playing fetch with impressive dedication. Max gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and older children who appreciate a calmer environment. He's not a chewer and shows a bit of shyness around food when other pets are present. While he's a companion at his core, seeking closeness and affection, he does experience separation anxiety and can nervously mark. He is, however, a champion in his crate, both for sleeping and for when you need to be away. Max is described as "quiet for his breed" and is not overly yappy, though he will vocalize if left alone for too long. He can be a little nippy if he feels anxious or threatened, so he's best suited for a home without very young or boisterous children. He adores outings and will happily join you for adventures, but he does need a secure, fenced yard and a human companion to join him outdoors. Max is loyal, loving, and will truly thrive in a home where someone is often present. His current family is heartbroken to part with him but believes he deserves a home where he can be truly happy.
Ideal Home
Max would thrive in a kind and quiet home with a human companion who spends a lot of time at home. He needs a fenced yard but also someone to accompany him outside. He would do best with a family that includes a companion 10+ years old. He is not ideal for small or loud children.
Ongoing Health
Max is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.
Training & Support
Max experiences separation anxiety and can nervously mark. He can get nippy when feeling anxious or threatened, so guidance is needed with this. He does very well in a crate. He can be vocal but is not overly yappy.
