Olivia is a sweet girl who has overcome a lot of fear and anxiety since arriving at the shelter. She loves bath time and will pant when feeling anxious, but with patience and gentle encouragement, she blossoms. Olivia is looking for a special someone to call her own, preferably a mature couple or a retired, active individual. She would do best in a home without children and would prefer to be the only dog, though she can coexist with cats.
Ideal Home
Olivia would thrive in a home with a mature couple or a retired, active person where one person is home often. She would do best in a home with no children and no other dogs, but cats are acceptable. A fenced-in yard is a must for her outdoor potty breaks and general happiness.
Ongoing Health
Olivia is a healthy dog. She will pant when anxious.
Training & Support
Olivia has made incredible progress in building trust, but she may still hesitate with hand movements, so going slow is key. She enjoys tummy rubs and pats on the head once she's comfortable. She has a tendency to bark at passersby but is learning to respond to "shh" or "get down." Her recall needs work, as she seems unsure about coming inside when called; picking her up to bring her in is currently effective. She knows the command "stay," which helps. While she sometimes uses the pee pad indoors, she's not always consistent. She would not do well kenneled when you're out, but a room with a baby gate or pen, no carpet, a pee pad, water, and a soft toy would be ideal. Olivia is learning to be a dog and socialize, enjoying closeness but also needing her space. She prefers sleeping at the foot of the bed once settled and shows a preference for women over men. She doesn't actively play with toys but enjoys sifting through them.
