About Bagel

Bagel is a gentle, sweet-natured girl estimated to be around 2 years old and weighing about 50-55 lbs. She has overcome a lot in her young life and is now ready for a home filled with patience, unconditional love, and security. Bagel was found as a stray with her puppies and, after they were all adopted, she's still waiting for her forever family. She's incredibly sweet but can be a little shy in new situations, needing adopters who can give her time to settle and blossom at her own pace. Once she feels safe, her affectionate and playful side shines through. Bagel adjusts well to busy households but can be nervous in new surroundings and on leash.

Ideal Home

Bagel would do best in a calm, mellow household with a predictable routine. She prefers to be the only pet or with a larger, laid-back dog who respects her space. She has lived with cats but thrives best when not forced into high-energy interactions. A home without young children would be best, though she may adjust to older, respectful children who understand her boundaries. A fenced yard would be wonderful for safe play and exploration. She needs an adopter who is home more often than not, has dog experience, and understands she is not a "ready-made" pet.

Ongoing Health

Bagel tested positive for heartworm but has completed the first stage of treatment (doxycycline) and needs an adopter willing to continue her care through either the slow-kill or fast-kill method. This is not contagious and is treatable. Bagel has also undergone surgery for cherry eye and has made a full recovery. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, and on monthly preventatives.

Training & Support

Leash training will continue to take patience. Grooming is still intimidating to Bagel, and she is nervous around brushes, but she will build confidence with gentle, positive experiences. She needs time to decompress and blossom at her own pace.
