Meet Louie, a delightful male puppy born on Mother's Day, May 10, 2026. He's currently about 2 pounds and expected to grow to be around 5-7 pounds, following in his mom Lola's 6.5-pound footsteps. Louie has a beautiful tri-color, medium-to-long coat and is currently in a chunky-monkey stage, which is perfectly normal for growing puppies! He was rescued along with his mother and littermates from a situation where they lacked proper shelter, and now he's ready to find his forever home. Louie is a playful pup who loves to wrestle with other small dogs and enjoys a good toy. When he's done playing, he'll happily crawl into your lap for belly rubs and cuddles.
Ideal Home
Louie would thrive in a home with a high activity level and a lot of people around. He would love to have another small dog, ideally between 1-4 years old, to play with. He needs a family who can check on him every 4-6 hours, so a home where people are not gone for 10-12 hour workdays would be ideal. Due to his small size, a home with only small dogs is recommended. He is expected to do well with older, mature children (10 and older).
Ongoing Health
Louie will be neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and on heartworm prevention. His final vet work, including vaccinations and neutering, is scheduled for mid-August.
Training & Support
Louie is a very smart puppy. He is currently being trained to use potty pads. He sleeps in a dog bed in an ex-pen at night. Due to his vaccination status, harness and leash training have not yet begun. As a puppy, Louie represents a long-term commitment, and potential adopters should be prepared to provide love, guidance, and care for 15-20 years.
