Pat is a 2-year-old, black and white pit bull with a loving, silly, and playful side that shines through once she feels safe. She absolutely adores squeaky toys, going for walks, and her favorite treat is chicken (though she also loves bananas!). Pat is quite the cuddle bug and enjoys snuggling on the couch. Her ideal home would offer a good mix of outdoor adventures and cozy home time.
Ideal Home
Pat would thrive in a home with a healthy balance of outdoor and homebody activities. She may be okay with other dogs after a slow introduction, but she would do best as the only pet in the home. Pat can be fearful of strangers walking towards her, especially if they make sudden movements, and may react with barking and lunging at other dogs who stare at her. A patient owner experienced with rescue dogs would be ideal.
Ongoing Health
Pat was reactive at the vet, but with a patient vet and the use of a muzzle, she managed. Trazodone has been helpful, particularly during her spay surgery. She sometimes bites at her nails and paw pads when anxious, so having redirecting toys available is a good idea.
Training & Support
Pat is potty trained, walks well on a leash, and enjoys car rides. She's learning commands like "sit" and "wait." While she initially had some apprehension towards her harness and collar, she's now comfortable with them, especially when shown they can be removed. Building a strong, loving foundation will help her continue to feel secure. She sometimes gets the "zoomies" after pottying, so be prepared for that burst of energy!
