Adele is a beautiful, approximately 2-year-old mixed breed who has overcome so much and continues to amaze us! She came to us heavily pregnant and wandering the streets alone, even navigating busy traffic. Thankfully, a kind person spotted her and reached out for help. Despite being at capacity, we couldn't turn away a dog in distress. At the vet, we discovered Adele had heartworm disease, which has now been successfully treated. She then went to a temporary foster where she gave birth to 14 puppies, with 12 surviving. Adele has shown incredible resilience and trust, even following commands without treats. She walks beautifully on a leash, though rabbits are her Kryptonite! She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is a calm, respectful housemate. She's house-trained, has no food aggression, and is potty-trained. While she is loyal and loving once bonded, Adele is still learning to trust people and is currently a bit fearful of strangers, mostly bonding with her "person." She needs a patient and loving foster or forever home where she can continue to blossom.
Ideal Home
Adele needs a foster or adopter who can provide her with the time, patience, and safety she needs to continue to bloom. She would likely do well with children 10 years old or older. A securely fenced yard is required.
Ongoing Health
Adele has completed her heartworm treatment and will require monthly heartworm preventative for the rest of her life. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations.
Training & Support
Adele is house-trained and crate-trained. While she walks well on a leash, she can get excited and pull if she spots a rabbit. She needs continued patience and positive reinforcement to build trust with new people.
