About Mykey

Mykey is a sweet 15-year-old, 17-pound boy who proves that seniors truly are the best! He came to us when his previous owner joined the military and could no longer care for him. Despite such a big change, Mykey has met it with incredible trust and a soft heart, always leaning into people with hope and waiting for his next person. He's a curious and engaged fellow, always ready to explore, especially if snacks are involved! Strawberries and peanut butter are among his favorites, but he's not exactly picky! More than anything, Mykey loves people. He enjoys being held, cuddled, and included. He has a gentle, affectionate nature and thrives when close to his humans. He also gets along well with other mellow dogs and enjoys calm companionship. You might find him napping in the most endearing, random spots, making wherever he is feel like home. After everything, Mykey is ready for comfort, routine, and most of all, love!

Ideal Home

Mykey would do best in a calm home with someone who has experience with senior dogs and understands the rhythm of caring for an older pup. He doesn't need a fast-paced life, just a soft place to land, steady care, and someone who sees the value in every moment with him.

Ongoing Health

Mykey has severe dry eye and very limited vision, though he can likely see shadows. He requires daily eye medication to keep him comfortable. After careful veterinary evaluation, surgical removal of his eyes is not being pursued as he navigates well with his remaining vision and support care, and anesthesia at his age could be risky.

Training & Support

No specific training needs are mentioned, but Mykey thrives on gentle affection and companionship.
