Spicy is an approximately 8-year-old Chihuahua with a big personality packed into his tiny body! He was rescued from a hoarding situation and is looking for a very special home that understands him and will love him for exactly who he is. Spicy is a quirky little guy who prefers men and tends to take a long time to warm up to women, sometimes several months. Building trust with Spicy requires patience, consistency, and plenty of treats. He actually prefers firm, confident touch, while gentle petting can overstimulate him and make him uncomfortable. Spicy will never run up and bite. He will let you know when he wants to be picked up by jumping on your leg, and he decides when he wants affection, happily jumping into your lap for cuddles when he's ready. When he's had enough, he'll let you know with his adorable vocalizations before scampering off to do his own thing. Spicy is a good listener and follows directions. He sleeps in his kennel overnight and knows it's his safe space. He gets along well with cats and other dogs, although Spicy firmly believes he's the biggest dog in the house! He can do well with a calm, submissive canine companion who respects his space. The quickest way to Spicy's heart is through food; he absolutely loves treats and takes them very gently. Food is the key to earning his trust and building a lasting bond. Spicy isn't the right fit for every home, but for someone willing to understand his unique personality and give him the time he needs, he will be a loyal and entertaining companion. He deserves a patient adopter who sees past his spicy exterior and appreciates the special little dog underneath.

Ongoing Health
All pets receive age-appropriate vaccines, are dewormed, microchipped, and receive flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Spicy is also heartworm tested.
Training & Support
