Brownie is a 4-year-old, 35 lb. male Labrador mix who is looking for an active and patient family. He was rescued as a puppy and, due to a severe case of mange, he has some scars and patches of white fur. Brownie is very energetic and can be anxious, which leads to a lot of chewing. He has worn teeth from gnawing on various items and destroys toys easily. While he knows how to use a crate, he becomes stressed when confined and is not yet leash-trained. He can also be anxious during transport.
Despite these challenges, Brownie is a social and affectionate dog who loves people, attention, hugs, and pets. He has a playful spirit and a fascination with water. Brownie has spent his life in a shelter and has never experienced a walk, but with exercise, structure, patience, and love, he has the potential to thrive in a home environment. He is a sweet, friendly dog seeking a committed adopter who can help him channel his energy and provide him with the life he deserves. Please remember that rescued dogs may need time to adjust to a new environment, and patience is crucial in building trust and a strong bond.
Ideal Home
Brownie would do best in a home with a securely fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue and a deep understanding of the needs and behaviors of street animals, including a commitment to protection and education. Experience with dog behavior and training is preferred, or a willingness to hire a professional trainer. A high level of tolerance and patience for a rescued dog is essential.
Ongoing Health
Brownie has received a spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI and rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, is dewormed, and microchipped. He has tested negative for heartworm and tested negative on a 4DX test. He is up-to-date on monthly preventive protection with Nexgard Spectra. A health certificate and vaccine booklet are available.
Training & Support
Brownie is not house-trained and needs consistent guidance. He is not yet leash-trained and can be anxious during transport. He also needs help channeling his chewing tendencies. Extensive patience and a structured approach, potentially with the help of a professional trainer, will be key to his success.
