Zaya is a sweet and loving 3-year-old girl who has overcome so much. She came to us from a high-kill shelter where she was found with her puppies, suffering from a broken front leg, torn ACL, broken canine tooth, Lyme disease, and heartworms. After completing treatment for heartworms and Lyme disease, we discovered her leg fracture had healed incorrectly and will require amputation. We are committed to covering all of Zaya's veterinary expenses until she is fully healed. Despite her past, Zaya is incredibly affectionate and her favorite thing is to be petted and showered with love. Her tail is always wagging, sometimes a little too enthusiastically, thumping against everything in its path! She has made a wonderful friend with another dog in her foster home and enjoys playing with him.
Ideal Home
Zaya is looking for a home that understands she is still healing from past abuse. She can be startled by sudden movements and loud noises. To ensure she feels safe and comfortable, we are seeking a home with children aged 10 and older who will be gentle with her. While she may be initially fearful of men, she warms up once she realizes they are not a threat.
Ongoing Health
Zaya is recovering from heartworm and Lyme disease treatment. She will require amputation of her front leg due to a severe fracture that has healed dislocated. The rescue will cover all associated veterinary costs.
Training & Support
Zaya is still learning to trust and may be sensitive to loud noises and sudden movements. Patience and gentle reassurance will go a long way in helping her feel secure.
