Tucan was found lying outside Hotel Tucan in Bucerias for four days, waiting for someone to help him. No one ever came, and with a rusty choke chain barely fitting him, it is clear he was abandoned. Today he is healthy, joyful, and so ready for a committed adopter. Tucan is a great match for someone who loves to play, hike, walk, and share adventures with their dog. He is big, strong, and has a high play drive, so he needs a handler who understands how to work with energetic dogs. At the same time, Tucan is incredibly affectionate and looks to his person for guidance and leadership. He has experience living around many dogs of different sizes and breeds and does well in those environments. What really stands out about Tucan is his eagerness to engage with people. He truly enjoys the bond he builds with his human and seeks out that connection. Once his energy is properly channeled, Tucan is happy to settle down beside you and enjoy affection and downtime together.
Ideal Home
Tucan is best suited for acreage, farm, or ranch life. He does not like small or enclosed spaces. He is not recommended for homes with small or young children.

Training & Support
Tucan is not recommended for a first-time dog owner or someone without prior training experience, unless they are strongly committed to learning. He needs an owner who will meet his physical and mental needs.

Transporation
This rescue is located near Bucerias, Mexico. Approved adopters can have their new companion transported to the US and Canada. This often involves matching adopters with flight companions traveling from Puerto Vallarta. You will meet your new pup at the airport to welcome them home. During summer months, it may be challenging to secure Canadian flight companions, so dogs may need to fly into the US and be picked up at Peace Arch Park at the border.
