Merle Dawson is a handsome approximately 5-year-old, 47 lb pittie mix with a striking merle coat, floppy ears, and captivating heterochromia (one blue eye, one brown). He's a bundle of joyful energy, convinced everyone is his best friend. His personality is as stunning as his looks, and he's guaranteed to steal your heart. Merle is a devoted, goofy, and incredibly lovable companion who thrives on affection and being included in all your activities. He's a true sidekick, happiest when by your side.
Ideal Home
Merle would thrive in a home with a semi-active family that enjoys including their dog in their daily rhythm, whether that's running errands or just relaxing at home. He would do best in a home with a large fenced-in backyard rather than an apartment, providing him space to stretch his legs and play. While he enjoys the company of calm, easygoing female dogs, he would be happiest and most relaxed as the only dog in the home, allowing him to be the center of attention.
Ongoing Health
Merle is a rescue dog, and while he has received all necessary vetting including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, flea prevention, and a 12-month heartworm preventative injectable, specific breed and age cannot be guaranteed.
Training & Support
Merle is treat-motivated and eager to please, making additional training a joyous bonding experience. He walks fairly well on a leash, with occasional pulling due to excitement or a desire to greet friends. He is working on basic commands like "sit" and will likely master new commands quickly. Our trainers on staff have assessed Merle, provided behavioral modification as needed, and developed individualized plans to help prepare him for his future family, including crate training, potty training, and leash walking.

Transporation
Merle is currently in Texas and can be transported nationwide via our rescue's USDA-certified transport system. Drop-off locations are available in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, and Canada (with pickup options in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT).
