Dan

My name is Dan, and I'm a two-year-old dog who is very timid and shy. It takes me a long time to open up to new people and I can be nervous in new situations, so I'll need plenty of time to get used to you and feel comfortable in my new home. I need a home that will patiently help me rebuild my trust in myself and in humans. I'm reactive out of fear, so I'll need desensitizing and positive reinforcement training methods. I think I'd do well with a more confident dog who can show me the ropes. A fenced yard is a must, as I might try to escape new or scary situations. I've been through a lot, but if you give me the chance, I promise I'm a sweetheart at heart. It took me months to stop barking at my current human before I felt safe enough to let them walk into my kennel without being scared – that was a huge moment! I love food and can be a bit of a connoisseur. If I get a treat I like, I’ll take it to my bed to enjoy it, and I once tasted whipped cream like I was savoring fine wine! If you're patient and willing to give me the time I need, I know I can become a loving and loyal companion. A home in the country is a must for me to truly flourish, as I am fearful of many things.
