Lake
Female
Australian Cattle Dog (aka Blue Heeler) Mix
9 weeks (born 04/20/26)
Current weight 10 pounds. She will be a medium sized dog when full grown.
Lake is a sweet curious puppy. She loves to be around her people.
Her breed is high energy, so she is looking for a family who can help her work off that puppy energy and keep her entertained. Cattle dogs are very bright and motivated and need outlets to channel their intelligence. You need to plan on keeping her stimulated, busy & tired. Consistent and positive training is highly recommended with cattle dogs so early training and socialization is a must. Their tendency to nip and bite can be an issue in homes with small children because they may want to herd them with nips when kids play rough. Potential adopters need to do their research so they understand the breed and the training requirements.
She loves to play with toys and plays well with her littermates.
She is working on pad training in preparation for regular outdoor potty training. She will need continued training in her new home. She has been working on "sit" "no" and "come".
She currently sleeps all night quietly in a puppy pen and her foster mom is hopeful that will transfer over to crate training.
Lake will be available for adoption July 3rd after she has been spayed, microchipped and received her 2nd round of puppy vaccinations. She will need a 3rd & 4th set of vaccines once she is adopted.
