Meet Murphy!
Murphy is a goofy, affectionate, and playful two-year-old Labrador Retriever mix with floppy ears and a shining golden coat. He weighs about 70 pounds and greets every day with enthusiasm and happy tail wags. Murphy loves to "talk" with little noises, making him a great conversationalist! He enjoys long walks, car rides, chew toys, and zoomies in the yard. Murphy is a smart pup who responds well to clicker training and positive reinforcement. He already knows "sit" and "lay down," and is making great progress with "stay" and "recall."
Murphy is a social butterfly with other dogs and would do best in a home with a confident canine friend to help him feel secure. He absolutely loves doggy daycare and truly comes out of his shell there. At home, Murphy enjoys a steady routine, settling in for snuggles and quiet time on his bed or the couch after a day of play.
Ideal Home
Murphy would thrive in a home with a calm, experienced pet parent who understands anxiety and reactivity. He needs a patient individual who can continue to build his confidence. Slow introductions to new people and surroundings, along with consistency and gentle guidance, will help him blossom. A home without children is recommended.
Ongoing Health
Murphy experiences some anxiety, particularly in unfamiliar or chaotic environments, and has shown fear-based behaviors when feeling trapped. He has had three incidents where he nipped or bit. These moments stemmed from fear, not aggression. Murphy also benefits from a mindful diet; chicken has been removed as a precaution due to suspected skin sensitivities, and he receives regular soothing baths to keep his skin comfortable.
Training & Support
Murphy can be a little nervous around some men, though he has made great progress with consistent training, patience, and love. He will benefit from continued positive reinforcement and gentle guidance.
