Roman was found roaming around a rural area for several months. He was saved several times and posted as found, but his owners never reclaimed him. Most recently, he found a friendly house on a cold winter night, demanding entry by circling the house and trying to open the doors with his mouth. He finally won them over by looking in their kitchen window. We estimate he is between 2-3 years old. Roman is a very friendly boy and a real character. He gets along well with other dogs and would be fine with children. We recommend obedience training for all newly adopted Pyrs to help you create a special bond and ensure a well-behaved canine. Great Pyrenees are willing to learn but are not as eager to comply with commands as other breeds; they are bred to be independent thinkers.
Ideal Home
Roman requires a securely fenced yard that is at least 6' high and accessible from your home. Invisible fencing is not suitable for this breed as they will ignore the shock for freedom. Roman is also eligible for placement in an adult-only home with no fence, provided he receives daily walks. Applicants must be over 25 and own their own home. All children in the household must be over 6 years old. Your resident pets must be up-to-date on vaccines, sterilized, have a good history of vet care for the past two years, and have used year-round heartworm preventative, with proof of purchase.
