Rocky is a resilient and intelligent 4-year-old dog, weighing under 35 lbs, who has overcome incredible odds. He spent about a year and a half surviving on his own on the streets of Mississippi, becoming a master of evasion. After being rescued, he escaped multiple times, even traveling 17 miles back to a familiar, albeit short-lived, home. He was finally brought to safety and has since been learning to trust humans in a foster home. Rocky is a devoted companion who bonds deeply with his safe people and deserves a stable, loving, and permanent home.
Ideal Home
Rocky would thrive in a quieter, calmer home where he can be the sole focus of attention. He bonds strongly with his people and would do best in a home with fewer pets, as he prefers not to compete for attention. He seems to prefer women over men and would benefit from an adopter who understands that trust is earned slowly and protected carefully. Given his history of elopement, his adopter must be fully committed to his safety, structure, and containment.
Ongoing Health
All of our dogs are vetted by a licensed veterinarian and arrive spayed/neutered with age-appropriate vaccines and microchips. Rocky currently wears a GPS tracker at all times due to his history.
Training & Support
Rocky has shown that he struggles with big transitions and forms deep attachments to his safe people. He needs an adopter who is patient and steady, ready to provide consistent structure and earn his trust slowly.

Transporation
Rocky is currently located in South Mississippi. We welcome both local and out-of-town adopters. For out-of-town adopters, we offer virtual meet-and-greets and can arrange transport to many states. The adoption fee includes transport to the city on this listing.
