Parker Sunday Stroll

Quiet, gentle, and easygoing, Parker doesn't rush the moment; he settles into it. This boy has a soft presence, a calm nature, and a respectful way of moving through the world. His peaceful energy can make a home feel just a little more grounded. Parker is estimated to be around 2 years old and weighs 21 lbs. He appears to be a Portuguese Podengo, but as always with rescue, breed and age are our best guess. Parker shines most naturally around other dogs. He is currently fostered in a home with multiple dogs and has been wonderfully comfortable from the start. He greets politely, gives a quick sniff, and then goes about his business. He doesn't need to be in the middle of the action to feel secure; he just enjoys being part of the pack. Parker has proven himself to be an easy, low-maintenance house guest. He is house-trained, sleeps through the night, and has a playful side that comes out more as he gets comfortable. He is the kind of dog who quietly fits into your routine without asking for much, just a safe space and time to settle in. With people, Parker is shy at first and takes human affection slowly, not because he's resistant, but because it's simply unfamiliar. He allows handling without any issues and has no signs of aggression, just a gentle hesitation with new touch. He's a dog who hasn't quite learned the language of affection yet, but is open to understanding it in time. He'll benefit from a patient, understanding home that gives him the space to decompress and adjust at his own pace. Once he feels safe, that quiet curiosity starts to bloom. Right now, he doesn't seek out affection, but with time, consistency, and kindness, that connection will grow in a way that feels natural to him. On leash, Parker is still building confidence. New environments and the general outside world can feel a bit overwhelming, but he handles walks without fuss. With gentle guidance and continued exposure, he will continue to improve. Parker is not going to come in and demand attention right away. Ideal Home

Parker would thrive in a multi-dog home where he can take his cues from confident, friendly dogs around him. He could do well in a house with a yard where he can explore at his own pace, but he could also succeed in an apartment as long as it's a calmer, lower-traffic environment, especially during his initial adjustment period. A patient, understanding home that gives him the space to decompress and adjust at his own pace is essential.

Ongoing Health

All vetting, including DAPP with booster, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12-month heartworm preventative injectable, and a heartworm test and treatment if needed are included in his adoption fee. He also receives a microchip with free lifetime registration.

Training & Support

Parker is house-trained and sleeps through the night. He is still building confidence on leash and with new environments. Gentle guidance and continued exposure will help him improve. He needs patience and kindness to build affection.

Pets are transported nationwide using a USDA-certified transport system with 24/7 care and real-time tracking. Drop-off locations include WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI, and Canada (pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters). A $87 surcharge applies due to rising transportation costs.
