Meet Django! This smart, active, two-year-old mixed breed is a medium-sized boy, weighing around 50 pounds. He has a sleek black coat with white accents and a thoughtful face that's always watching the world with curiosity. Django builds deep bonds with his people and celebrates their return home with pure joy! He's a dog who thrives on both connection and purpose. He loves to cuddle and lean in for affection, curling up for cozy naps once he feels comfortable and safe. Adventure is equally important to him; he adores toys of all kinds and enjoys games of fetch. Walks, runs, and swimming are also high on his list of favorite activities, and he proudly carries a stick or ball as if it's his special job. Django's intelligence shines through in his love for training and learning. He already knows many cues, including sit, stay, down, come, heel, place, leave it, drop it, no bark, and "ok" as a release cue. Practicing these skills with positive reinforcement keeps his mind engaged and happy.
Ideal Home
Django would thrive in a quieter, child-free and cat-free home, likely as the only dog. He needs an active family who understands reactive dogs and enjoys training.
Ongoing Health
Django currently takes daily Fluoxetine to help manage anxiety.
Training & Support
Django does experience fear-based reactivity in certain situations, feeling uncertain around unfamiliar noises, unexpected distractions, or dogs encountered on leash. He requires thoughtful management in public and benefits from a predictable routine and continued behavior support with an experienced pet parent. He also has a history of resource guarding with another dog around food, toys, or personal space, and there was one minor nip incident involving an unfamiliar person. Meeting guests outside first and allowing him to warm up helps him feel secure. With structure, exercise, and patient guidance, he continues to grow in confidence!
