Posie is a spayed female pit bull mix, approximately 1 year old and weighing 57 pounds. During her time in our care, Posie has been a quiet and shy girl. She does best in calm, patient environments and thrives with people who understand the importance of letting a dog set the pace. Posie came to us with limited background information, so we don’t know much about her past. What we do know is that she is a reserved sweetheart who prefers to take her time becoming comfortable in new situations. Once she feels safe and secure, her true personality begins to shine—revealing an adorable, gentle, and very sweet companion.
Ideal Home
Posie would do best in a quiet, patient home with adopters who understand that trust takes time and are willing to move slowly with her. She is best suited for a household with children aged 13 and older who can respect her space and boundaries. Posie may do well with other well-suited dogs; she has done well with young puppies here but not small dogs or other females. Her compatibility with cats would need further testing. With love, consistency, and reassurance, Posie will blossom into a truly wonderful and devoted companion. For the right adopter, watching her confidence grow will be incredibly rewarding.
Ongoing Health
All adult dogs at Animal Services have veterinary health checks and are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and deflead (if necessary) before going to their new homes.
Training & Support
Posie has shown some initial shyness and caution, which is not uncommon for dogs adjusting to a shelter environment. She will benefit greatly from positive, reward-based training methods that focus on building trust and confidence at her own pace. Gentle guidance, consistency, and plenty of praise (or tasty treats!) will go a long way in helping her feel safe as she learns. We recommend working with a trainer who uses force-free, low-stress techniques to support Posie as she continues to gain confidence and settle into her new life.
