Here is the improved pet listing description for Duke:
Please join us in welcoming Duke to the rescue! Duke came to us as a cruelty confiscation case after being left tied to a fence without food, water, or shelter for an extended period of time. Despite everything he has endured, Duke has remained incredibly sweet, affectionate, and loving. Duke is a smaller Dane, and we are hopeful that with proper nutrition and care, he will gain the weight he needs over the coming weeks. His foster mom says Duke was an angel at his vet visit, loves cats, kiddos, and other dogs. He is a true example of a gentle giant.
Ideal Home
Duke has a long road to recovery ahead of him and would thrive in a home that can provide him with love, patience, and a calm environment to heal.
Ongoing Health
Duke is currently battling whipworms and hookworms, is strongly heartworm positive, has scabs and skin irritation over much of his body, ear infections, significant hair loss from a severe flea infestation, and is underweight. He will also need his mandatory neuter once he is healthy enough. GDRST will have his heartworm treatment, fecal testing, de-worming, microchip, and monthly heartworm preventative completed as part of the adoption process.
