Kaleo

Kaleo is a 2-year-old, 12-pound little boy who has already survived more than any dog ever should.

He came to us after being removed from a severe cruelty situation as part of a criminal animal abuse case, where he suffered significant injuries, including broken ribs and other trauma. What matters now is that he is safe, healing, and finally getting the chance to learn what a kind life feels like.

When Kaleo first arrived, he was very shut down and unsure of people. Everything felt overwhelming, and he would freeze when he didn't feel safe. But he is slowly coming back to himself. Day by day, Kaleo is learning that people can be gentle. That hands can mean comfort. That the world doesn't always have to be scary.

With other dogs, he does especially well. He gains confidence from them and really benefits from having other dogs nearby. With trusted people, Kaleo is incredibly sweet. He enjoys soft affection, leans into gentle pets, and loves cuddle time once he feels secure. As he continues to decompress, his personality is starting to peek through more each day. He enjoys walks, exploration, and playtime.

Kaleo is looking for a patient, steady home that will let him heal at his own pace. A calm home with another friendly, grounded dog would be ideal for him. He doesn't need pressure.
