Meet Venus! This sweet girl had a rough start, entering the shelter with a litter of puppies. While her pups all found loving homes, Venus was left behind, overlooked because she's a black dog and no longer a puppy. Thankfully, a kind volunteer alerted us to her urgent situation, and we were able to rescue her just in the nick of time! Venus is a friendly girl who gets along well with other dogs, cats, and people, though she can be a little shy initially. She enjoys walks and showering her favorite humans with affection once she feels comfortable. Venus is also incredibly smart and resourceful. She once escaped her foster home and survived on her own for a week, proving she's street-smart and an impressive digger! This means she'll need a dedicated family committed to her safety. She should never be left unsupervised in a yard, and her new family should take extra precautions like using baby gates, crates, and being careful when entering or leaving the home to prevent any escape attempts. Venus would blossom with a patient family offering her stability, routine, and a secure environment where she can learn what it truly means to be safe and cherished.
